aeromigo

Privacy policy

Last updated: 8 November 2026. Applies to the Aeromigo app for iPhone (including TestFlight betas) and to the website aeromigo.com.

Aeromigo is a flight instrument for paragliding pilots, made by Igor Fedorenko, a private developer ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at CONTACT_EMAIL.

In short: your flights, positions and settings stay on your iPhone. The app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and contains no third-party code that collects data. Data reaches us only when you choose to send us a report or leave your email on our website.

1. Data the app uses on your iPhone

The app processes the following on your device. None of it is sent to us or anyone else unless you choose to send it (section 2).

  • Precise location (GPS) — to show your position, speed and height, navigate tasks and record your flight as an IGC file. If you allow it, location is also used while the app is in the background or the screen is locked, so the recording continues during a flight. You can allow location only while using the app, or not at all.
  • Barometer, motion and compass — for altitude, climb rate, heading and detecting takeoff and landing.
  • Bluetooth — to connect flight instruments such as an XCTracer variometer and read their measurements, including radio traffic of nearby pilots that the instrument receives (buddy radar). Buddy positions are kept only in memory and are not saved.
  • Camera — only when you tap Scan, to read a task QR code. No pictures are stored. A picture you choose for QR reading is read on the device and not kept.
  • Your files — flight recordings, sensor logs, tasks, waypoints, screen layouts and settings are stored in the app on your iPhone. They can be included in your iPhone or iCloud backups according to your own backup settings. You can share or delete them in the app.
  • Diagnostics — crash, hang and battery reports that iOS gives the app (MetricKit) are kept on the iPhone, up to 30 files. They contain technical data about the app, not your flights.

2. Data that leaves your iPhone

  • Reports you send. "Report to developer" builds one file with your note, app and device details (app version, iPhone model, iOS version, language, time zone) and, if you choose, a flight file with its track and positions, its sensor log and the diagnostics. Nothing is sent automatically: you see the file and choose where to send it (for example Mail, Telegram or AirDrop). We use reports only to find and fix problems.
  • Map and flight-area downloads. To show maps and prepare a flying area for offline use, the app downloads data from Apple Maps, OpenStreetMap (Overpass API), Mapzen terrain tiles (Amazon Web Services Open Data), kk7 thermal maps (thermal.kk7.ch) and XContest airspace (airspace.xcontest.org). The requests contain the map area that is needed, not your name or an identifier. Like any web request they reveal your IP address to these services, which handle it under their own policies.
  • XContest. If you open XContest in the app to sign in or claim a flight, you use the XContest website; what you enter there is handled by XContest under its own policy. The app keeps the website's sign-in cookies on your iPhone, you can clear them in the app, and the app never uploads flights by itself.
  • TestFlight. While you test a beta through Apple TestFlight, Apple shares with us the name and email you use in TestFlight, the feedback and screenshots you send, crash reports and basic usage of the beta, as described in Apple's TestFlight privacy notice: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/test-flight/

We do not sell personal data, do not use it for advertising, do not combine it with data from other sources and do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

3. This website

  • Beta sign-up. If you leave your email on aeromigo.com, we store it with the time of sign-up and the page language, to send you the beta invitation and short news about the beta and the release. We send nothing else and do not share the address. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by writing to us.
  • Server logs. Our web server records the IP address, time, requested page and browser type of each request, for security and to fix errors (our legitimate interest in running the site safely).
  • The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from other companies.

4. Who else receives data

  • Hosting. The website, the sign-up list and the server logs are kept on a server rented from VDSina (Hosting technology LTD) in Moscow, Russia. The provider stores the data for us and has no right to use it. If you live in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, this means your sign-up data is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision; we do so on the basis of your explicit consent when you sign up.
  • Apple, for TestFlight and the App Store, under Apple's own privacy policy.
  • Mail and messaging services you choose to send a report through (for example Apple Mail, Telegram), under their own policies.
  • Authorities, only if the law requires us to disclose data.

5. How long we keep data

  • Reports: until the problem is fixed, and no longer than 12 months.
  • Beta sign-up emails: until we have sent the invitation and the release news, and no longer than 12 months after Aeromigo is published on the App Store; earlier if you ask.
  • Server logs: up to 15 days.
  • Data in the app on your iPhone: until you delete it or delete the app.

6. Your rights and choices

  • You can refuse or withdraw location, Bluetooth and camera permissions at any time in iPhone Settings → Aeromigo; the related features then stop working.
  • You can delete flights, logs, tasks and settings in the app, or delete the app with all its data.
  • You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive it in a portable format, and you can withdraw your consent. Write to CONTACT_EMAIL; we answer within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm that the email address is yours.
  • If you live in the EU, the UK or another country with similar law, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

7. Security

The website is served only over HTTPS. The sign-up list is stored outside the public part of the website and is accessible only to us. Data in the app is protected by iOS, including file encryption while your iPhone is locked.

8. Children

Aeromigo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you are under 16 and live in the EU, please do not sign up on the website without your parents' permission.

9. Changes

We will post changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use an email address you gave us, we will write to you before it applies.
